About the Teachers' Chamber Choir of Komló
--------------------------------------------------------------
The Teachers' Chamber Choir was founded in 1978 in Komló, a mining town about 20 kilometres from Pécs, in Baranya County, southern Hungary.
The founder and present conductor of the choir is Dr. Szabolcs Szabó, high school teacher of Hungarian Literature and Music, and conductor of the school choir.
There are teachers, students, engineers, economists, entrepreneurs and office clerks in the group.

The choir gives two concerts yearly in its home town and often takes part in national and international festivals and competitions. It has won the highest award an amateur choir can get, the title 'concert choir'.
The choir, which has about 45 members, also performs on Hungarian Radio, including frequent live broadcasts.
The group self-produced its first cassette tape in 1983, the first LP record in 1989 and compact discs in 1997, 2003, 2005 and 2008.

The choir has had the chance to give concerts in Austria, Belgium, Czech Republic, Cyprus, Finland, France, Germany, Holland, Italy, Poland, Romania and Serbia.

Major events and the results of the international choir competitions:
1986 - Solymár (Hungary) - Festival Price
1987 - Békés-Tarhos (Hungary) - Grand Price
1989 - Pécs (Hungary) - Audience Price
1989 - Spittal (Austria) - 3rd Price
1989 - Budapest (Hungary) - Golden Diploma, Special Price, Conductor Price
1996 - Pécs (Hungary) - Special Price
2001 - Szolnok (Hungary) - 'With Culture at the Gates of the West National Festival 2000' - Country contest: we hit the first place on it in category 'mixed choirs'.

2006 - Atri (Italy) - International Choir Festival
2007 - Tours (France) - Florilege Vocal de Tours, International Choir Competition - Ronsard Special Price
2008 - Gorizia (Italy) - 'Cecilia Seghizzi' International Choir Competition - renessaince category: 1st price, romantics: 3rd price, Great Price: 3rd price, C. Seghizzi-songs: 4 Special Prices

The Teachers' Chamber Choir appreciate the meeting with the public, serving the audience and the culture. These ones count more to us than any price of competitions.
